Enter Title

Organizations Charts can be created and customized to present hierarchical relationships (i.e.; department managers and employees within a company).

Drawing the Flowchart Shapes

  1. The Drawing Toolbar should be displayed in the bottom left corner of the window.

    Click on the next to located on the Drawing Toolbar. The pop-up menu will be displayed.

  2. Point to Flowchart located on the pop-up menu, and then click on the shape you want draw. The cursor will be displayed as a cross.
  3. Click where you want to draw the flowchart shape on the slide and draw the flowchart shape. The flowchart shape will be displayed in a highlighted border.

    To add additional flowchart shapes, repeat steps 1 thru 3.

  4. Arrange the flowchart shapes on the slide by highlighting each one (clicking on it) and dragging it into the desired position on the slide.

Creating the Flowchart Shape Connectors

  1. Click on the next to located on the Drawing Toolbar. The pop-up menu will be displayed.
  2. Point to Connectors located on the pop-up menu, and then click on the type of connector you want draw. The cursor will be displayed as a cross.
  3. Click where you want to draw the selected type of connector on the slide and draw the connector, remembering to extend it so that it connects to each flowchart shape. The selected connector will be displayed with green circles at the end of each of its points on the slide.

    To add additional flowchart shapes, repeat steps 1 thru 3.

  4. Re-arrange the connectors on the slide by highlighting each one (clicking on it) and dragging it into the desired position on the slide. Remember that the selected connector will be displayed with green circles on each end.

Adding Text to the Flowchart Shapes

  1. Right click on the flowchart shape that you want to add text to. A pop-up menu will be displayed.
  2. Click on Add Text. The cursor will begin to blink inside of the selected flowchart shape.
  3. Begin to type in the text.
  4. To change the font of text that has been inserted into a flowchart shape, click on the flowchart shape and then click inside the shape. Highlight the inserted text by sliding the cursor over it.

    Click on Format located on the title command menu. The Format drop-down menu will be displayed.

    Click on Font located on the Format drop-down menu. The Font dialog box will be displayed.

    Select the settings for the font by clicking on the type, style, size and or color of your choice.

    Click on . The changed font will be displayed in the flowchart shape in a shadow box.

  5. Click on the slide, outside of the flowchart shape. The changed font will be displayed as it will appear in the presentation.

Adding Text to Connectors

You cannot add text to a line or connector. You can however use a text box to position several blocks of text on a slide near or on the line or connector drawing objects.

Follow the steps below to create a vertical text box.

  1. Click on Insert on the title command menu.
  2. Click on Text Box. The cursor will be displayed as a cross.
  3. Click on the tab button. The Format Text Box/Text Box tab dialog box will be displayed.
  4. Place a checkmark in the Rotate text within AutoShape by 90▫ checkmark box by clicking on the checkmark box.

  5. Click on . The inserted text box will be displayed in a 90 degree rotated position.
  6. Place the cursor over the green circle until a left-circle arrow appears. While the left-circle arrow appears, left click and hold while turning the object until it is the desired position
  7. Widen and or lengthen the object until the text is displayed in a readable fashion
  8. Click on the next to (Line Color Fill) button located on the Drawing Tool Bar. The Line Color Fill pop-up menu will be displayed.
  9. Click on “No Line” if you do not want the text box to be displayed with a border line.

    Otherwise, click on the color of your choice to change the color of the text box’s border line.

Changing the Line Style or Adding Color to the Connectors

Line Style

  1. Select the line to be changed by clicking on it.
  2. Click on the (Line Style) button located on the Drawing Tool Bar. The Line Style pop-up menu will be displayed.
  1. Select the line style of your choice by clicking on it. The selected line will be displayed like the newly selected line choice.

Adding Color to the Connectors

  1. Select the connector to be changed by clicking on it.
  2. Click on the next to (Line Color Fill) button located on the Drawing Tool Bar. The Line Color Fill pop-up menu will be displayed.

3. Click on the color of your choice to change the color of the connector.

Note: Set the line or connector color before creating the objects. All of the objects will be created using the pre-set color.
