Using Blogs and Wikis

Access to online communication is essential today. Two free, easy-to-use tools for online communication are blogs and wikis.

What is a Blog?

  • Easily created, updateable website that allows author or authors to publish instantly to the Internet from any Internet connection without using web editor software.
  • Not built on static chunks of content.
  • Engages readers with ideas, questions, and links.

How do I get started?

  • Sign up for a free and easy- to-use blog at Blogger
  • Click the Take a tour button for an overview.
  • Click the orange arrow and follow the step-by-step directions.
  • Create as many blogs as you want with levels of privacy

What is a Wiki?

  • Website where anyone can edit anything anytime without using web editor software.
  • Use “edit page” link to add content to website.
  • Wikipedia.org is an example.
