Using your NOVA Web Folder to Develop Websites
All full time and adjunct NOVA faculty and staff are given a web folder to develop a professional website. NOVA faculty members are encouraged to post their schedules, assignments and any lengthy file attachments to their websites. So instead of posting long file attachments to emails sent to students, faculty and staff can post a link to the website with the attachment information included in the site.
Checking Your Web Site
Faculty and staff can use their network/email userid (i.e. jdoe) to access their site by visiting: http://www.nvcc.edu/home/userid.
If this does not take you to your site, submit a request to the Help Desk by calling 703-426-4141 to have your web folder created.
Updating Your Website
To create your website, you will need to create it on your computer using a Web editor and then publish it to your web folder.
Composer (part of the SeaMonkey suite) is a free web editor. No knowledge of HTML is needed. Composer has a functional FTP capability that will transfer only html and image files to your NOVA web folder. To transfer files, such as music, movies, or presentations, you will need to download Core FTP - http://www.coreftp.com/download.html.
