Building Blocks

Building Blocks assist you with alternative methods of building your Blackboard course materials.  VCCS licensed building blocks are:

  • Classtop is used to drag and drop course materials into any of the content areas in Blackboard, and post and modify announcements.  It also alerts instructors when students have submitted changes with Blackboard
  • Impatica for PowerPoint simply converts the PowerPoint file into a compressed format that is optimized for streaming over the Internet. The Impatica file is typically 95% smaller than the PowerPoint HTML files.
  • Respondus 3.5 is used for creating and managing exams that can be printed to paper or published directly to Blackboard. 
  • StudyMate Author 2.0 makes it easy to create Flash-based learning activities and games.
  • LockDown Browser is a browser that locks down the testing environment within Blackboard, students are locked into the assessment and are unable to print, copy, go to another URL, or access other applications.
  • SoftChalk LessonBuilder™ is a powerful web lesson editor that allows instructors to easily create engaging, interactive web lessons that can be uploaded into Blackboard.
